Baboons At Cefn-yr-Erw we currently have four separate troops of baboons rescued from as far away as Portugal, Ireland, and Beirut. The two pictures immediately below show a male (left) and female (right) rescued in 2006 from Faro in Portugal. |

Baboons
are very social animals and form extended family groups under the
protection of an "alpha male". Kyko (below) is such an Alpha Male and Bocho
is his "second in command". Every group member occupies a
position in the hierarchy and behaves accordingly.
