Joey the Chimp formally of Mole Hall Essex sadly passed away recently. The Sanctuary has not yet put out any information on the passing of Joey, as extensive laboratory tests have been taking place which are not yet completed.
Our distress is being made much worse by an element of what can only be described as thugs and bullies, making threats and pouring out a torrent of verbal abuse against Jan & Graham and the Sanctuary Staff. It is sad that a minority of people with inflated egos are prepared to trample all over us in order to be seen to be the first to announce the details of this tragic event to the World. They show no concern for Joey, only for themselves.
We have announced to everyone that once we know the reason for Joey’s death it will be released by the Sanctuary, but only then and not before.
All of us at the sanctuary are doing what a normal family would do with relatives, i.e. spending our time with Tubman who was Joey’s genuine friend. We are not speculating on what might or might not have been the cause. Joey was an old man and there is nothing sinister about such an event. There is however something sinister about people with twisted logic deciding on Internet forums what Tubman’s future should be.
To all of you real friends of Joey who have adopted him, fallen in love with both boys since they have been here and contributed generously to their keep, we are sorry if we have not managed to contact all of you personally. As there are several hundred of you it has been difficult to let you all know. We did not want you to find out in this manner via the website or facebook but the gossipmongers have made it necessary.
