Celebrity becomes a Patron

"The Chimpanzees and other animals at Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary had nowhere else to go and it is comforting to know that these creatures, and others like them, will always have a home there."

Laing O'Rourke build new Access Road

Laing O'Rourke Construction stepped in and saved the sanctuary from the threat of closure. Their generosity and public spirited outlook has solved, what was for us, a major problem. See our sponsors page for more details.

Stuart Cable the well known drummer has visited Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary several times and was moved to become a patron of the sanctuary.

Stuart takes a real interest in his local area and is seen here presenting certificates at St John the Baptist High School. The pupils were delighted to see him and they proudly showed the large mural they had painted of our sanctuary.

Charlie the Baby Lemur Makes an Unexpected Debut

When we went to feed the Lemurs one morning we were amazed to find a new baby. He was strong and healthy and has been named Charlie. He has grown at an amazing rate and was remarkably independent, even at a few days of age.

More New Arrivals

Almost one year to the day since Rusti the fox was brought to us as an abandoned pup we had two more baby foxes brought to us after their mother was killed on the road.

Their eyes had still not opened and they were huddling in the hedgerow, frightened and cold. We fed them every few hours, day and night using a dolls feeding bottle, and both began to grow and opened their eyes.

Their noses grews proportionally longer. Their eyes turned brown and their fur became a ginger colour on top and white underneath.

Unfortunately one of the babies died suddenly and unexpectedly during the night, but the other is now romping ahead and is beginning to look like a real fox.

He has been named Tyson because he is such a fighter. Just like Rusti he loves attention and behaves like a pet dog.

We hope to introduce him to Rusti (right) and hope that they will enjoy each others company.

Baby foxes are born with black fur, short stub noses and blue eyes, which remain closed for the first week. Soon after their eyes open they begin to eat solid foods and grow rapidly.

Tom the Baboon was rescued by a courageous group of people from a living hell in Lebanon.

Thanks to the compassion and benevolence of a number of concerned organisations and individuals who contributed to bringing him to our sanctuary in South Wales he now has the chance to live out his life in dignity and comfort.
