Abercrave is a small village on the A4067 road thirteen miles North of junction 45 on the M4 motorway. It has three public houses, a post office, outdoor pursuits store, rugby club and welfare hall. The river Tawe which flows through the village has lovely walks and good fly fishing for trout, sea trout and salmon.  

Overlooking Abercrave is the Cribbarth Mountain whose shape resembles a sleeping giant. There are several walks from the village up onto the mountain as well as lovely walks along the banks of the lovely tumbling river Tawe. The geology of the area is very varied and has been widely studied over the years. The Cambrian and Silurian periods of geological history were named after the local Cambrian hills and the Silures, a local Welsh tribe.

Just to the North of Abercrave lies Craig-y-Nos Castle, the former estate of Adelina Patti the famous opera soprano. The castle has been lovingly restored and has one of the most complete and original Victorian theatres in Britain, as well as wonderful views over the grounds. It is now a hotel and restaurant and offers visitors a wonderful insight into the privileged world enjoyed by one of the Worlds former richest women.
